Do you have a little more experience and so would prefer to set your own pace? We have you covered! Come enjoy nature and the company of our wonderful horses. We now offer personalized rides with a variety of options:
On-Farm: take a one-hour horseback ride through our regenerative farm. Learn how we keep horses sustainably through rotational mob grazing and multi-species stacking, using other animals in symbiosis with the horses to massage the land, sequester carbon, build the soil, and produce clean food. This ride can accommodate groups with up to six people.
Off-Farm: this ride lasts for 2-3 hours and takes place in the scenic woodlands of southern Maryland. Each of our rides is led by one of our knowledgeable guides who will ensure your safety as well as your enjoyment. This ride is a great option for a small group to explore Maryland's forests and tidal wetlands. There are some steep inclines and declines, creek and bridge crossings, and gorgeous scenery. This ride can accommodate groups with up to 3 people.
Add an unforgettable finish onto any ride with a charcuterie picnic beside our bonfire (includes complimentary champagne) or a wine tasting at our partner winery, Janemark (wine tastings available on Fridays and Sundays only).
PLEASE NOTE: while we can take individual riders out, we have a minimum cost involved in bringing in a guide, preparing horses, loading and hauling (if off-farm), etc., so it is more cost efficient per person to gather a group of friends!

No experience is necessary for taking one of our private trail rides. The pace on our private rides is set in accordance with the least-experienced group member’s comfort level.
For the safety of our riders and horses, we have a 250lb weight limit. Good physical condition is a plus. Riders must be able to mount and dismount on their own, with a mounting block.
The minimum age for the guided ride is 15 years old, unless the rider has 1-2 years of prior riding experience. For the wine tasting or complimentary champagne, all riders must be 21 and older.
Riders will be given safety and riding instructions and must be able to demonstrate the ability to control the horse and be of their own physical ability to ride.
We do not accept walk-ins or same-day bookings.
We do not offer unsupervised horse rentals. All of our trail rides are with a guide.
Choose appropriate footwear/clothing. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required.
In case of severe weather, tours may be canceled or rescheduled. Guests will be notified via email ASAP. If the tour cannot be rescheduled, we will offer refunds.

Shari was fantastic in every way. She was early and prepping the horses when we arrived even though we were early. Shari asked about our experience and level of comfort with horses and tailored the ride to us (no other farms we have been to have done this). It made for a much more enjoyable day.
Adding to the much better ride experience was the conversation with Shari. She told us about the area, Foxfire Farm, her family, shared her passion for farming and really made us understand her why. Her passion and level of compassion for the wellbeing of the horses (and other animals) really shows in many ways.
